We are seeking an experienced and accomplished academic leader to serve as the Director of Writing Programs at UCLA. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the vision, mission, and administration of UCLA Writing Programs, as well as its subsidiary programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of writing programs and initiatives that promote academic excellence and student success.
  • Manage personnel actions for Writing Programs' faculty, including hiring, evaluation, and professional development.
  • Develop and manage budgets, allocate resources, and oversee the administration of Writing Programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to promote a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and equity in writing programs.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in writing pedagogy, assessment, and program administration.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Rhetoric & Composition, Writing Studies, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in teaching college-level writing courses, with a focus on diverse student populations.
  • 3 years of experience in leadership and administrative roles related to writing programs, writing centers, and/or WAC/WID initiatives.
  • Proven ability to support and promote faculty development among composition faculty.
  • Success in teaching and supporting a diverse student body, including first-generation undergraduate students, students from groups historically underrepresented in higher education, and multilingual students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a large public research university.
  • Experience in writing, program, and/or language assessment.
  • Experience in establishing and assessing learning outcomes.
  • A promising agenda as an educator-researcher with experience in program-related research focusing on writing programs, writing centers, multilingual students, professional writing, WAC/WID initiatives, or other related research areas.
