About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Worker/Custodian to join our team at the Diocese of Orlando. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for providing a range of maintenance and custodial services to ensure the smooth operation of our buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including mechanical repairs, general maintenance, and handyman services.
  • Provide janitorial support services to staff, including cleaning and disinfecting of facilities.
  • Conduct minor preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, equipment, and property.
  • Remove trash and recyclables, and transport materials to disposal areas.
  • Clean and resupply restrooms, and set up and break down equipment and furniture for functions.
  • Service and report mechanical malfunctions, and identify and report potential safety hazards.
  • Maintain building interiors, including dusting, polishing, and making minor repairs.
  • Sweep, scrub, and vacuum floors, and perform general cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including painting, plumbing repairs, and light landscaping.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Ability to diagnose trouble issues, make minor repairs, and work with outside vendors.
  • Knowledge of proper safety equipment and procedures, including OSHA guidelines.
  • Self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks, with ability to work under pressure.
  • Successful completion of Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. The successful candidate will be able to work in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor environments, and will be comfortable with physical demands of the role.
