A role as a Surgical Tech or SPD professional is not merely a job; it is an opportunity to leverage the knowledge, support, and potential that surrounds you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate under the guidance of the surgeon and RN.
  • Support the surgical team during procedures by preparing and organizing sterile setups of instruments, equipment, and supplies, as well as passing items to surgeons and nurses as required.
  • Assist in patient preparation and transportation, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and surgical rooms.

Daily Tasks:

  • Scrub in on all surgical cases, primarily General, Orthopedic (Total/Trauma), Neurosurgery, OB/GYN, ENT, Urology, and Robotic procedures (DaVinci XI and MAKO).
  • Team members are cross-trained across all services, with no specialized service teams.
  • Provide breaks and/or additional supplies and sterile instruments as necessary during operations.
  • Assist with room turnover and restocking for subsequent cases.
  • Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons by handing them instruments.
  • Keep preference cards updated.

Facility Overview:

The surgical department averages approximately 250 cases monthly, operating six ORs for various specialties including general, orthopedic, ophthalmology, urology, ENT, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, and robotic-assisted surgeries. Our focus is on delivering exceptional care to adult patients in a respectful and compassionate environment. We foster a warm atmosphere that encourages all team members to participate in departmental decision-making and support those seeking professional development.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be motivated, a team player, and passionate about the operating room environment. We value individuals who are willing to assist their colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field is advantageous.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program is preferred.
  • Current registration as a Surgical Tech is required unless performing functions within the scope of another verified Colorado license, certification, or registration.

Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly.
