VLBA Site Technical Specialist

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced technical staff member to support the Pie Town VLBA Station. As a VLBA Site Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of the Very Long Baseline Array Station, including the 25-meter antenna and support infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and data delivery on the VLBA Station.
- Use standard electronic test equipment to inspect and adjust or replace defective system components.
- Monitor and maintain all systems for proper operation, including emergency power generating equipment, fire alarms, and HVAC systems.
- Consult with other VLBA site personnel and NRAO technicians and engineers to formulate and plan corrective actions.
- Perform other preventive and corrective maintenance on hardware, test equipment, and peripheral equipment.
- Use electronics test equipment and hand tools for mechanical work or repair.
- Upkeep of the site and facilities.
- Associate of Science degree or equivalent in Electronics.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the Electronics or Electrical fields.
- Ability to work independently and reliably with minimal direct supervision.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Current Driver's License.
