Position Summary

The Procedure Technician embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

This role involves providing essential support to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in the daily operations of the department. Key responsibilities include facilitating patient flow between waiting and procedural areas, preparing examination rooms prior to patient arrival, assisting in efficient room turnover, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver compassionate care to patients throughout their treatment and procedures, adhering to departmental and hospital standards.
  • Prepare procedure rooms for patient arrivals and assist in preparing patients for examinations.
  • Support nurses and physicians during procedures, including specimen collection.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately to facilitate treatment.
  • Monitor patient flow and manage scheduling to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and clean endoscopic equipment and accessories according to established protocols.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Utilize departmental software applications effectively.
  • Manage inventory of supplies in procedure and recovery rooms to ensure availability.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Restock linens and manage soiled items appropriately.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet work demands and commitments.
  • Implement safety measures and comfort protocols for patients.
  • Provide clerical and technical support as directed by management.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of infection control practices in a healthcare setting.
  • Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences.
  • Previous experience in a patient care setting.
  • Bilingual language skills.
  • Experience with relevant modalities.
  • Completion of the SGNA Associates Program – part I.
