Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shift Supervisor to join our team at El Pollo Loco. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of hourly restaurant employees during a shift, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and prioritize tasks for crew members during their shift, assigning work stations as needed.
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline crew members, taking appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Maintain positive employee relations through effective supervision, ensuring a harassment-free work environment for all employees and guests.
  • Fill in for crew members during break periods, covering work stations as needed.
  • Account for and manage all company funds during the shift, completing safe audits, cash drawer counts, bank deposits, coin and change orders, and shift end balances.
  • Complete administrative tasks required on assigned shifts, including preparing product orders when necessary.
  • Adjust the number of employees on duty based on anticipated sales volume to maintain productivity and guest service standards.
  • Orient and train new crew members, cross-training existing crew members as needed.
  • Ensure proper handling of all food products, ensuring products meet standards.
  • Prevent food shortages, waste, and theft, reporting employee issues to the General Manager, Assistant Manager, District Manager, or Human Resources Manager as appropriate.
  • Account for all company funds and inventory on assigned shifts, ensuring cash handling, banking, and security procedures are in effect.
  • Ensure service meets expectations for speed, accuracy, and friendliness, resolving guest complaints on shift and reporting significant complaints to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Ability to complete basic math skills
  • Valid driver's license and use of personal car
  • Meet state, county, or municipal regulations pertaining to health and food handling
  • Basic computer and math skills, including understanding of units of measurement
  • On last performance evaluation, was rated Exceeds Requirements
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at analyzing situations that affect operations, proposing and implementing solutions
Physical Requirements
  • Extensive standing
  • Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold
  • Reaching heights of approximately 6 feet and bending to touch the floor
  • High level of mobility/flexibility in space provided
  • Bending, reaching, and walking

  • Using a computer
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
