Kitchen Steward

Job Summary:

UPMC Mercy is seeking a Part-time Kitchen Steward to support our Dietary/Cafeteria department. The successful candidate will maintain standards of housekeeping and sanitation in production, service, dining, and storage areas, ensuring the department is in an inspection-ready condition in accordance with Health Department guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.
• Collect and remove trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures, adhering to recycling guidelines.
• Clean and maintain floors and walls in designated food service areas following established procedures.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and related service ware following established procedures.
• Consistently adhere to SDS information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
• Clean large equipment as assigned, following established procedures.
• Monitor and record temperatures according to operation guidelines.
• Maintain inspection-readiness at all times and follow HACCP procedures while completing job duties.
• Use and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines, following all safety procedures.
• Serve food/coffee on tray line for patients according to dietary restrictions in an orderly manner.
• Deliver food carts/trays to proper unit in a timely fashion.
• Stock necessary locations according to job description.
