Position Overview:

The Fleet Maintenance Specialist is tasked with the upkeep and repair of transportation equipment utilized for the delivery and unloading of products at Chick-fil-A restaurants. This role focuses on servicing a diverse range of machinery, including heavy-duty trucks, refrigeration systems, insulated trailers, and hydraulic lift gates, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely, systematically, and promptly to enhance equipment readiness for delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Chick-fil-A's safety protocols while performing duties.
  • Conduct inspections and maintain inventory of vehicle supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure that trucks and tractors are adequately supplied with diesel exhaust fluid for effective deliveries.
  • Maintain precise records of fuel and diesel exhaust fluid dispensing in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Regularly wash trucks and trailers to uphold their appearance and ensure sanitary conditions for food transport.
  • Utilize environmental, health, and safety equipment during vehicle fueling and washing tasks.
  • Respond to spills and residues in accordance with safety policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to train on technical aspects of Fleet Maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with the assistance of qualified technicians.
  • Document repairs thoroughly in the Fleet Maintenance Management System.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as battery checks, lubrication, and parts replacement.
  • Utilize hand and power tools effectively, including pneumatic wrenches and hydraulic jacks.
  • Communicate issues promptly to the Supervisor.
  • Comply with traffic laws and established transportation procedures.
  • Follow Federal Motor Carrier Guidelines.
  • May operate a company vehicle for repairs or transportation of fleet units and parts.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Work safely in accordance with company policies and regulations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must obtain EPA 608 & EPA 609 Licenses within the first year of employment.
  • Willingness to train in all aspects of fleet repair, including technology platforms.
  • Basic understanding of transportation equipment and fuel usage.
  • Proven ability to complete tasks safely and thoroughly.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures without exception.
  • Willingness to learn about transportation equipment maintenance and obtain relevant certifications.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic math and arithmetic skills.
  • Professional demeanor with a focus on customer service.
  • Valid driver's license for operating company vehicles.
  • Physical capability to walk extensively and climb stairs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Flexibility to support transportation operations as needed.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Class B CDL or willingness to obtain.
  • ASE Certifications or willingness to pursue.
  • Experience with material handling equipment is advantageous.
