Description


As a Traffic Systems Technician Trainee, you will engage in a learning role, closely observing and assisting seasoned Traffic Technicians and the Traffic Engineer in various skilled technical tasks related to the inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal and control systems.


Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems, including control cabinets, traffic signals, detectors, actuators, and other electrical components, adhering to established standards and guidelines.

2. Gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing damaged traffic signal equipment, conducting tests, and programming microprocessor-based controllers.

3. Participate in preventive maintenance inspections, utilizing blueprints and schematics to identify issues with traffic signal equipment through testing devices.

4. Maintain accurate records of inspections, installations, and repairs, including daily work logs and incident reports.

5. Utilize computer-aided design software to create traffic sign designs and lettering, ensuring compliance with standards.

6. Manage inventory for the sign shop, ordering necessary materials and supplies, and assist with street striping and pavement markings.

7. Respond to inquiries from the public, providing information and customer service, and assist in emergency response efforts as needed.

8. Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, reporting any mechanical issues requiring further attention.



Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. A valid Texas Driver's License is required. Candidates must be capable of obtaining relevant certifications in traffic signal technology and sign and pavement marking.

Work Environment


This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, requiring moderate physical effort, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
