Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at American Oncology Management Company. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our physicians and patients by providing exceptional clinical support and administrative services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with medical procedures, including bone marrow biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and pelvic exams.
  • Perform laboratory blood work, including phlebotomy and quality control procedures.
  • Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation and send outside labs to appropriate facilities as dictated by patient insurance plans.
  • Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to regulatory agencies.
  • Document patient information, including vital signs, height, weight, pain level, and PHQ9 depression screening, in the Onco/EMR system.
  • Prepare patients for physician exams, including obtaining vital signs and placing patients in exam rooms.
  • Receive lab reports via phone, lab system, or fax and document in patient charts or Onco/EMR for physician review.
  • Schedule outside testing, referrals to other physicians, and hospital admissions as ordered by physicians.
  • Perform EKG testing and other duties as required to maintain laboratory compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • High School or GED
  • Certifications/Licenses: As required by state where employed
  • BLS required
  • Valid Driver's License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
  • One-year experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office with ability to perform venipuncture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Critical thinking skills, including solid problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness
  • Good command of the English language
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Work Environment

This position supports Center for Georgia Oncology and Hematology Consultants, in Brunswick. The standard core workdays/hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
