As a vital member of our bakery team, the Artisan Bread Maker is responsible for achieving daily production targets for our exquisite baked goods. This role focuses on the intricate process of bread-making, which includes preparing the dough, allowing it to rise, shaping, proofing, and ultimately baking and cooling the products. Additionally, for those involved in viennoiseries, the preparation or thawing of dough, along with shaping and filling, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Review production schedules to ascertain the variety and quantity of baked goods required.
- Accurately measure and combine ingredients to create dough or batter following established recipes.
- Roll, cut, and shape dough to produce rolls, loaves, and other related items.
- Prepare fruits for fillings by cutting, peeling, and processing as necessary.
- Place dough into pans, molds, or on sheets and monitor the baking process, making adjustments as needed.
- Prepare icings and toppings to enhance the presentation of breads and other baked items.
- Utilize various kitchen equipment, including electric mixers, baking pans, rolling pins, and cutting tools.
- Oversee the baking process to ensure optimal results and make necessary adjustments.
- Follow production schedules and recipes to maintain consistency and quality.
- Handle and transport ingredients, tools, and baking pans efficiently.
- Control mixing and oven processes to ensure adherence to recipes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of one year of experience in bread and related production is required.
- A degree from a recognized culinary arts program is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with ovens is preferred.
- Availability to meet the flexible baking needs of the operation is essential.
- A genuine passion for the culinary arts and a commitment to high-quality products is expected.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are crucial.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work shifts of up to 10 hours while standing or walking to perform essential duties.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs during the workday.
- Ability to push or pull up to 150 lbs as required throughout the shift.
- Willingness to bend, stoop, and occasionally use a ladder.
- Comfortable working in both high-temperature environments and cooler areas during shifts.
- Flexibility to work at multiple locations as needed.
- Effective communication skills with both management and team members are essential.
