Job Summary:
The Winery Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the Winery Tasting Room Manager in the day-to-day operations of the tasting room, wine club, and wine club events. This includes supervising tasting room staff, completing administrative duties, and effectively dealing with personnel and customer service issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the tasting room, including supervising staff and completing administrative duties.
- Respond to inquiries from customers and staff in the tasting room manager's absence.
- Assist in building and retaining wine club members through engagement and outstanding customer service.
- Assist with wine club events and promote sales.
- Work with tasting room staff to promote sales and provide excellent customer service.
- Give tours of the winery and provide information about wine production and sales.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a winery or tasting room setting preferred.
- Wine knowledge and production experience required.
- Computer skills in Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook required.
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills required.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
- Ability to supervise other employees in a positive and constructive manner.
- Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Inventory management skills preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lead small wine tasting events.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide an excellent experience for customers in the winery and manage daily operations of the tasting room.
- Safely practice heavy lifting and carrying with the help of another person, if necessary.
- Ability to be on feet for long periods of time, including frequent stair climbing.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Repetitive movements, including bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, and stooping.
- Repetitive use of hands, including fine hand manipulation while working on a computer keyboard.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and customers.
- Work around cleaning agents and other caustic chemicals.
- Work around and with heavy equipment.
- Work with numbers and orders.
- Ability to interact well with co-workers and customers.
