Responsibilities of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant:
- Assist in lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents, either independently or with support.

- Monitor residents' health status by measuring and recording their food and liquid intake, output, and vital signs, reporting any changes to the healthcare team as necessary.

- Collect medical specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum for analysis.
- Clearly communicate medical instructions to residents and their families.
- Collaborate with a healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to residents.

- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including catheterizations, suppositories, irrigations, enemas, massages, and douches, under the direction of a physician or nurse.

- Respond to residents' call lights promptly.
- Assist residents with mobility, including walking, exercising, and transitioning in and out of bed.
- Support residents with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
- Safely transport residents to treatment areas using wheelchairs or stretchers.
- Assist in the safe evacuation of residents when necessary.
- Implement restraints on residents when required for their safety.
- Prepare, serve, and collect meal trays for residents.
- Maintain cleanliness of rooms and change linens as directed.
- Deliver messages, documents, and specimens as needed.
- Answer phone calls and guide visitors appropriately.
- Manage inventory by storing, preparing, sterilizing, and issuing medical supplies such as dressing packs and treatment trays.
- Perform clerical tasks including processing documents and recording residents' conditions.

Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid GNA certification and have graduated from a state-approved GNA program.
