Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fire Equipment Technician to join our team at Matlick Enterprises Inc. The ideal candidate will be responsible for servicing fire extinguishers according to manufacturer recommendations and NFPA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test, and repair fire extinguishers and system fire extinguishing cylinders.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts, including tubing, hoses, nozzles, neck O-rings, check stems, and O-rings.
  • Fills extinguishers with the correct type of material, including halon, ABC/BC dry chemical, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water, or patented solutions.
  • Perform leak checks and clean fire extinguishers that are serviced.
  • Assist route service personnel with field maintenance of fire extinguishers.
  • Test low-pressure extinguishers for conformity with standards and codes.
  • Assist customers with locating or servicing products.
  • Stay up-to-date with fire codes, regulations, and industry best practices related to firefighting standards.
  • Complete all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Occasionally assist with building maintenance and repair, as well as perform some regular janitorial duties.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Valid and clean driving record
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.
  • Prior experience in a shop environment is a plus.
  • Experience with hand tools.
  • Able to regularly move and carry materials weighing up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb or balance on a ladder multiple times a day.
