Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate maintenance activities affecting SQL Server systems.
  • Oversee the security and management of database systems in both production and non-production environments across multiple locations.

  • Lead a team of Database Administrators to ensure efficient delivery of requirements across numerous virtual and physical nodes, instances, and SQL Server databases.
  • Provide technical support for daily SQL Server operations.
  • Assist with chartered projects, including security remediation and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Recommend and implement database modifications to enhance performance and security.
  • Plan and execute security measures to protect databases.
  • Research and document FISMA/STIG findings and waiver requests.
  • Evaluate database performance, capacity, and troubleshoot intricate database issues.
  • Configure and monitor system interfaces.
  • Manage system databases, user databases, server instances, schemas, tables, views, functions, triggers, and indexes.
  • Administer user IDs and group permissions, as well as database backups and recovery processes.
  • Oversee peer-to-peer database replication and AlwaysOn Availability configurations.
  • Collaborate with Windows System Administrators on basic Windows Failover Cluster management.
  • Support Windows Disk Management tasks.
  • Create and update Configuration Item documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, and Installation/Upgrade Guides.
  • Work alongside other DBAs, Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Storage Administrators, Enterprise Security Teams, Backup Administrators, and application developers to resolve various system issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7 or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive SQL Server administration experience in a replicated, highly available enterprise environment.
  • Security-focused mindset with experience in large-scale enterprise application deployments, patches, and security updates.
  • Understanding of basic Windows, Linux, Storage, Network, and Backup concepts.
  • Proficient in T-SQL and Batch scripting.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, securing, and optimizing SQL Server Databases in clustered, physical, and virtual environments.
  • Familiarity with High Availability, Always On, and Data Replication technologies related to SQL Servers.
  • Ability to write and debug scripts in PowerShell.
  • Capability to create and maintain documentation reflecting the current operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to discuss technical subjects with various levels of internal and external leadership.
  • Availability for 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
  • Microsoft's MTA, MCSA, or MCSE, or equivalent SQL Server-focused certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline, along with 7 or more years of relevant professional experience. (Education can be substituted for 10 years of experience).
  • Familiarity with SQL monitoring tools such as Spotlight or SolarWinds.
  • Experience with SQL database clustering in a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of SAN storage for SQL databases.
  • Understanding of VMWare concepts.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active DOD Secret clearance is required, along with the ability to obtain an agency suitability clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods in an office environment.
  • Must be able to navigate between work locations to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to operate IT equipment such as computers and copiers.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management and colleagues.
  • Must be able to read and respond to electronic and verbal communications.
  • This position supports an IT operations environment and may require support during nights and weekends, including participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Currently, the contract work location requires in-office presence at the customer's site weekly at a minimum, subject to change.

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,800-$185,500, influenced by factors such as Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills, geographic location, education, and certifications.
