Job Title: Veterinary Nurse Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Nurse Assistant to join our team at the ASPCA Animal Hospital. As a Veterinary Nurse Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our veterinary medical team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide compassionate and quality patient care at all times, utilizing Fear Free Guidelines.
  • Assist with nursing care and client services, including venipuncture, catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging, critical care, pharmacology, and dentistry.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary medical team to provide high-quality, practical veterinary care and deliver skilled, efficient, and compassionate treatment to outpatients and hospitalized patients.
  • Support organization and departmental policies and protocols, and maintain open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols.
  • Represent ASPCA in a professional and courteous manner at all times, and provide management with regular feedback about training needs, new hires, coworkers, interns, hospital needs, etc.
Requirements:
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to work standing for 10 or more hours.
  • Basic to advanced computer skills, including Excel, Microsoft Office, and ImproMed.
  • Completion of the Fear Free 8 module course or willingness to complete within 60 days of hire/promotion.
  • High degree of integrity and accountability.
  • Knowledge of shelter medicine and operations.
  • Knowledge of veterinary hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Outstanding inter-personal communication and the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Possess a sense of humor that can balance flexibility and enthusiasm and thrives on detail.
  • Possess excellent Fear Free animal handling and restraint skills.
  • Proficiency in Impromed, preferred.
