Job Overview

The Defender Association of Philadelphia is a leading organization in the field of indigent defense. Our summer internship program offers law students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in criminal defense litigation.

As a member of our team, you will participate in intensive training on law and procedure, followed by rotating assignments in preliminary arraignment, miscellaneous criminal motions, pre-trial probation, and juvenile courts.

You will also have extensive client contact through phone, office, and prison interviewing, and learn how to analyze a client's legal problems. Additionally, you may participate in a legal research and writing program and work in our civil/criminal mental health unit.

The estimated salary for this position is $25,000 - $30,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
