Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lead Driver/Router to join our Staples Supply Chain Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for training and mentoring new delivery drivers, filling in for supervisors, and covering drivers as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and mentor new delivery drivers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
  • Fulfill routing functions, including scheduling and assisting with deliveries, and partnering with the Supervisor to address and resolve any issues.
  • Transport products safely and deliver office supplies on your assigned route to customers.
  • Manage the routes for Drivers in the building, ensuring that deliveries are made on time and to the highest standard.
  • At times, depending on volume, load vehicles and organize and load product for delivery utilizing the manifest to ensure the most efficient delivery route and schedule.
  • Ensure safe work practices and foster a safety culture within the team.
  • Provide customer support, accept product returns, and be empowered to make your customers' day.
Requirements
  • A valid driver's license with a safe driving history acceptable to the company.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen (No THC) to the extent legally permissible.
  • Must obtain a 6-month DOT medical card specific to the role.
  • Basic English language skills (both verbal and written communications).
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs, push and pull items weighing up to 400lbs with the assistance of hand carts/material handling equipment, and occasionally maneuver up to 130lbs.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1-year of truck driving experience (operating a 16ft or longer straight truck) or comparable driving experience.
  • High volume/small package delivery experience.
