The Audiologist plays a crucial role as an autonomous professional within the healthcare framework, collaborating closely with otolaryngology specialists. This position involves assessing patients referred from various sources and providing essential hearing aid services. The Audiologist is responsible for diagnosing the type and severity of hearing loss and implementing appropriate habilitation and rehabilitation strategies. Additionally, this role encompasses the development of marketing initiatives aimed at enhancing the growth of the hearing aid practice. The Audiologist will report directly to the Medical Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive hearing assessments and analyze patient data to ascertain the nature and extent of hearing impairments, supporting both clinical needs and hearing device requirements.
  • Diagnose hearing and balance disorders and formulate treatment plans accordingly.
  • Maintain thorough patient documentation throughout all phases of evaluation and treatment.
  • Fit, dispense, and service assistive listening devices, including hearing aids.
  • Design and implement treatment programs for patients experiencing hearing or balance issues, coordinating with other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and education to patients and their families on strategies to enhance hearing and communication skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, ensuring ongoing assessment of hearing capabilities.
  • Teach patients effective communication techniques to optimize their receptive communication.
  • Advise on suitable assistive devices tailored to individual patient needs and types of impairments.
  • Refer patients to additional medical or educational resources when required.
  • Instruct and mentor audiology students and other healthcare staff.
  • Develop and oversee hearing screening initiatives.
  • Perform ear canal examinations and cleansing as necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of operational costs and actively contribute to cost management.
  • Document daily activities using Sycle.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) or a Master's Degree in Audiology.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience; recent graduates will be considered.
  • Proficient in complex problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are vital for prioritizing daily tasks.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal abilities.
  • A collaborative team player, open to constructive feedback and adherence to workplace protocols.
SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Must hold a valid Audiologist license in good standing in Indiana. All employees are required to provide proof of vaccination or an exemption. Current licensure from the Indiana Department of Professional Regulation is necessary, along with a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master's prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for student supervision purposes.
