Medical Assistant Specialist for Ambulatory Care

Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory clinic setting, you will provide high-quality care to patients with acute and chronic needs. Your role involves performing general administrative tasks, communicating with healthcare providers, preparing patients for exams, and documenting patient information. Responsibilities:
  • Greet and prepare patients for healthcare providers
  • Attend to patient needs, coordinate care, and document appropriately
  • Provide patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights by observing HIPAA regulations
  • Obtain and record patient information, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, current medications, medical history, and chief complaint
  • Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare provider(s)

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or be a certified Medical Assistant
  • Current BLS Certification is required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approval
  • Three months previous experience within a healthcare setting
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy

Salary: $40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
