Overview of the Role
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will be instrumental in delivering both diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care services aimed at enhancing patient outcomes for cardiopulmonary conditions and related health issues. Your role will also encompass educating patients, healthcare staff, and physicians, while ensuring the effective operation of respiratory equipment.
Core Responsibilities
- Administer various respiratory therapeutic services, including but not limited to oxygen therapy and bronchodilator treatments.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and continuous monitoring of respiratory functions.
- Operate ventilators, execute critical care procedures, and assist in the safe transport of patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams to formulate comprehensive patient care plans and provide necessary education to patients and their families.
- Engage in training and mentorship for students and staff members.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of respiratory equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Support overall departmental operations and may receive cross-training in specialized areas.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent.
- Current RRT NBRC status along with relevant certifications.
- Basic Life Support certification is mandatory.
Work Environment
- Type of Employment: Full-time
- Shift Schedule: Night shifts
- Weekly Work Hours: 36
- Work Hours: 6:45 p.m. - 6:15 a.m.
- Weekend Work: Required every other weekend
