Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as a Deputy Sheriff. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing the county detention facility, ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff;
- Overseeing courthouse and courtroom security, including the Juvenile, Domestic Relations, County Circuit, and General District courts;
- Transporting inmates to court, state facilities, and medical appointments;
- Serving summonses, court orders, and other civil processes issued by the court;
- Collecting delinquent taxes;
- Assisting in traffic enforcement and special details within the county.
Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent;
- Age: At least 21 years old at the time of appointment;
- Physical condition: Excellent physical condition required;
- Bondable: Must be bondable for handling Commonwealth funds;
- Driver's license: Valid driver's license from a place of residence;
- Training: Must successfully complete Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy within the first 12 months of employment.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
