Duties and Responsibilities

As a Rotorcraft Helicopter Inspector, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting inspections and evaluations of rotorcraft to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with team members to uphold the highest standards of aviation safety.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections and findings.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Participation in Designated or Random Drug Testing is necessary.
  • Resumes must detail experience with FAR part numbers and relevant aircraft.
Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • No more than two incidents involving Federal Aviation Regulations violations in the past five years.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Fluency in English.
  • No substance abuse issues that could affect job performance.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Requirements

Positions in Aviation Safety Inspection have specific medical requirements. Candidates must:

  • Have good distant vision in each eye and the ability to read printed materials without strain (glasses and contact lenses are permitted).
  • Be able to hear conversational speech (hearing aids are allowed).
  • Not have any physical conditions that could pose a risk to themselves or others.
  • Possess a valid second-class medical certificate as per FAA regulations.
  • Pass recurring medical examinations as mandated by the FAA.
Specialized Experience and Certification

To be eligible for this role, applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG-7, FG-9, FG-11, or FG-12 level. This experience should showcase the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful performance in this position.

Applicants should include specific examples of their specialized experience in their work history. Additionally, candidates must meet the following:

  • Hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating or a Commercial Pilot Certificate with a Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating and Instrument-Helicopter rating.
  • Possess a valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating and Instrument Helicopter rating.
  • Have a minimum of 1,500 total flight hours as pilot-in-command or second-in-command, with at least 1,000 hours in helicopters.
  • Have provided a minimum of 200 hours of flight instruction in a helicopter.
  • Have a minimum of 100 flight hours in helicopters as pilot-in-command or second-in-command during the last five years.
  • Not have more than two flying accidents in the last five years involving pilot error.

Specialized experience at various grade levels involves a range of responsibilities and assignments, requiring effective planning, organization, and the ability to work independently.
