Position Overview:
The Operational Technology Asset Management Process Owner is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle management of operational technology assets within the energy and utilities sector. This role ensures reliability, security, and performance within the ServiceNow platform.
- Individuals in this role tackle complex challenges, manage workflows, and provide leadership with minimal oversight.
- Incumbents are expected to operate in lead capacities, offering guidance to peers while demonstrating advanced skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Provides and leads analytical support to Product Owners or Product Managers involved in the discovery, design, and delivery of products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain the operational technology asset management process within ServiceNow, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
- Offer subject matter expertise on network diagrams and device communications between operational technology and IT environments.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of operational technology assets, from acquisition to disposal, ensuring precise tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT, operational technology, and cybersecurity teams to maintain the security and compliance of operational technology assets.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance asset management processes.
- Provide training and support to users regarding operational technology asset management practices.
- Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of the asset management process.
- Assist the product owner with user research and story development.
- Possess the ability to lead various key activities within a product team, including process mapping, value stream mapping, process analysis, and ROI analysis.
- Develop and implement quality assurance plans.
- Support change management efforts to ensure successful product implementation.
- Work with the product team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and potential efficiencies or cost savings.
- Utilize data to assist teams in developing and implementing solutions.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
- Years of relevant work experience may substitute for a degree (if applicable): 12+ years without a degree; 8+ years with a degree in a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in asset management, particularly with operational technology assets in the energy and utilities sector.
- Experience managing the lifecycle of operational technology assets such as SCADA systems and smart grid technologies.
- Familiarity with operational technology networks and device communication (e.g., Emerson, SEL, GE, Allen Bradley, Cisco, Siemens).
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements relevant to the energy and utilities sector.
- Strong understanding of operational technology technologies and their applications in the energy and utilities sector.
- Proficiency in system integrations and managing asset data in a centralized repository.
- Ability to integrate ServiceNow with other systems and tools for monitoring and managing operational technology assets.
- Understanding of IT and operational technology security principles as they relate to asset management.
- Effective communication skills across various media, including facilitation and presenting results to all organizational levels.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Curious and eager to learn, with a proactive approach to action.
- Ability to lead research efforts and gather data.
- Collaborative problem-solving approach to drive change through influence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five or more years of experience in the utility industry.
- ServiceNow System Administrator Certification.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - IT Asset Management.
- Certifications in cybersecurity, such as CISSP or CISM, if the role involves security aspects.
- Ability to identify and quantify opportunities with minimal existing data.
- Experience in writing business cases.
- Experience in creating and maintaining visual representations of ongoing data tracking activities and outcomes (e.g., through data dashboards).
