Theater Educator

Public Prep is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Theater Teacher to join our team. As a Theater Teacher, you will play a critical role in ensuring our scholars can express themselves in a variety of forms, gain exposure to and knowledge about the arts, and develop strong character.

The Theater Teacher will be responsible for creating a robust and interdisciplinary Theater program that incorporates New York State standards. This will involve designing curriculum and assessments, teaching, assessing, and reflecting on scholar progress. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to single-sex education.

• Design and implement a comprehensive Theater program that meets the needs of our scholars
• Collaborate with grade level teachers, school leaders, and other specials teachers to build on the existing arts curriculum
• Develop and implement assessments that measure scholar progress and inform instruction
• Communicate with families and build community through annual home visits and other school events
• Lead small-group reading interventions or guided reading groups
• Attend IEP meetings and ensure appropriate accommodations are given to scholars during assessments as needed
• Complete duties as assigned by the Academic Director to support and strengthen the community

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• NY State Certification for relevant grades and content area, or demonstrated process towards receiving reciprocity for certification from other states
• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated success as a full-time elementary classroom teacher
• Demonstrated success working in a high-performing, urban school setting preferred
• Preferred candidates who have a desire to work with a diverse population of students and linguistic backgrounds
• Evidence of excellence in teaching through continuous learning and data analysis
• Exceptional organizational and planning skills
• Superior communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively

Public Prep offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, internal equity, and budgeted amount for the role. The salary range for this position is $67,000-$89,000. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including Oxford Medical, United Dental/Vision, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending account, generous paid time off, commuter benefits, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) package with a 5% employer match.
