Facility Admissions Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Facility Admissions Coordinator to join our team at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center. As a key member of our Patient Access/Patient Administrative Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and efficient patient experience from initial contact to registration and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and verify patient and insurance demographics, as well as verify insurance benefits and coverage.
- Provide cost estimates, secure pre-certifications and/or pre-notifications for patient services, collect co-pay and deposits prior to services, and provide financial assistance to patients.
- Assist patients with wayfinding to clinics and provide registration assistance as needed.
- Maintain regulatory and functional knowledge of all registration information required, ensuring timely and accurate reporting/billing.
- Communicate coverage issues to service areas and work with patients and staff to resolve.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of paperwork prior to filing admissions and distribute admission documents as required.
- Maintain department scheduling templates for applicable providers in outpatient department locations.
- Collaborate with the Care Management team and Social Work departments to ensure required information has been obtained for reimbursement and pre-admission and pre-certification requirements are followed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification and memberships to local organizations such as AAHAM, NAHAM, etc. preferred.
- 1 year of work experience in a clerical, customer service, or receptionist position, preferably in a healthcare setting required; 2 years' work experience preferred.
