Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle all administrative tasks and duties for the physician/provider, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Serve as the liaison or coordinator for the patient's medical care, providing personalized support and guidance.
  • Streamline all patient-physician communications to ensure patient satisfaction and optimal care outcomes.
  • Provide medical literature and clinical preparation instructions to patients, promoting informed decision-making and empowerment.
  • Assist patients with questions and/or concerns regarding procedures, offering clear and concise explanations.
  • Schedule all procedures to be performed by the physician, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
  • Review the physician's schedule for maximum scheduling efficiency, minimizing delays and wait times.
  • Schedule all diagnostic tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Obtain all authorizations for procedures and tests, facilitating smooth and compliant care delivery.
  • Call patients to confirm procedures a week in advance, promoting patient engagement and satisfaction.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, including recalls, to ensure ongoing care and support.
  • Check-out patients at the end of their visit, providing clear instructions and next steps.
  • Request medical records from doctors and hospitals, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Return patient calls promptly and professionally, addressing concerns and questions in a timely manner.
  • Call-in new prescriptions and refills, and obtain authorization if necessary, ensuring seamless medication management.
  • Obtain lab results, including stat requests, and communicate them to patients and physicians as needed.
  • Complete tasks from Electronic Medical Record, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Review open orders every three days and work accordingly, ensuring timely and effective care delivery.
  • Contact patients with test results, providing clear and concise explanations and next steps.
  • Send history and physical forms to outpatient facilities, facilitating smooth and compliant care delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned, supporting the team and promoting a positive work environment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, with a strong foundation in medical terminology and concepts.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred, with experience in a medical office setting.
  • 2+ years experience as a medical assistant required, with a proven track record of providing exceptional patient care and support.
  • Medical terminology knowledge, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
