Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Analysis: Lead the structural design and analysis of grain handling facilities, including silos, support structures, and material handling equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Project Planning: Develop detailed structural engineering plans, specifications, and calculations for grain elevator projects.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and mechanical systems, providing recommendations for maintenance, repair, or renovation.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other team members to integrate structural designs with project requirements.
  • Quality Control: Review and approve drawings, plans, and specifications prepared by junior staff or external consultants.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to address technical issues and ensure project success.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and construction techniques to enhance design practices constantly.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with a focus on grain elevator design, construction, or bulk material handling.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership and project management skills, ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit considered a plus.
  • Physical Demands: Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Exposure to moderate to loud noise in the work environment, exposure to heavy concentrations of grain dust.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings, approximately 25-30% of the time.
