Banner Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Staff Manager to lead the daily operations of our medical staff services department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising subordinate medical staff positions, monitoring office functions, and ensuring efficient and effective operations that meet the needs of both physicians and administrators.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage subordinate medical staff positions, including credentialing, peer review, and other required medical staff functions.
- Compose and review medical staff by-laws, rules, regulations, and other medico-legal matters for medical staff and management approval.
- Manage the credentialing process for medical staff and allied health professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and standards.
- Develop and maintain effective communications and professional relationships between medical staff leadership and the medical staff at large.
- Serve as an information resource to administration, physicians, and staff concerning bylaws, policies, and procedures, and Joint Commission requirements.
- Assist in developing future direction and strategies for the development of medical staff, ensuring that principles of process improvement are utilized within the medical staff organization.
- Provide oversight of medical and allied health staff, including planning and monitoring departmental budgets for medical staff services.
- Gather, analyze, and monitor utilization data to be used in the reappointment, peer review, and quality improvement processes of the medical staff.
- Bachelor's degree in business, human relations, or related field.
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification or significant experience in medical staff services with the ability to obtain CPMSM certification within 2 years.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a medical staff services setting, with managerial experience preferably in a medical staff services setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface and communicate in an articulate manner with medical staff, administrators, legal counsel, and hospital personnel.
- Ability to work with common office software and equipment.
- Knowledge of medical staff computer software programs.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
