Assistant Vice President for Development

The Assistant Vice President for Development will lead and manage principal-level donor relationships, cultivating and securing gifts to meet annual and campaign goals. This role requires a collaborative environment, working closely with leadership across the campus to develop and increase philanthropic investments in the University's funding priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Cultivate and manage a dedicated portfolio of major gift prospects, soliciting individuals, corporations, and foundations to meet annual and campaign goals.
- Develop tactical plans to cultivate and sustain growth at every donor level, providing oversight and direction to stewardship, foundation, and corporate relations staff.
- Collaborate with the Vice President to develop fundraising plans, tactics, and tools to cultivate solicitation and stewardship strategies, identifying and implementing strategies to sustain a high level of volunteerism.
- Provide leadership and vision for the execution of the University's comprehensive major gift program, with a focus on the $50K+ and $1M+ level.
- Support and promote a culture that builds a robust donor relations and stewardship program, ensuring resources and strategies are aligned with and support both broad and targeted cultivation and stewardship strategies.
- Supervise staff involved with Foundation and Corporate Relations, directing and coordinating activities related to obtaining corporate and foundation monetary support.
- Participate in University and community events to represent the University and build relationships, developing and leading training sessions on development topics for University Advancement.
- Solicit annual, major, and planned contributions from alumni and friends, working collaboratively to ensure timely submission of meaningful contacts, prospects, and donors, gift/grant agreements, and other stewardship post-gift reports.
- Bachelor's Degree required, with Master's degree or higher preferred.
- 10+ years of experience leading development/fundraising/philanthropy teams in non-profit or higher education environments.
- Proven documented record of cultivating securing, and closing multi-million dollar gifts and meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to advancing the mission, goals, and objectives of the institution.
- Highly motivated and action-oriented to recognize and act positively upon opportunities related to Institutional Advancement.
Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day-to-day business.
