Minimum Starting Pay: $19.32 per hour

JOB SUMMARY

This role is responsible for overseeing inventory management operations within the department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees medical supply inventory; liaises with suppliers to acquire pricing information on medical products; processes purchase orders; organizes and distributes items.
  • Manages inventory of firefighting equipment for new fire apparatus, tankers, and vehicles; places orders for replacements of outdated or damaged equipment; solicits quotes from suppliers.
  • Administers the inventory of protective gear, including trousers, jackets, helmets with safety visors, bunker books, and gloves; requests pricing from suppliers and executes purchases as necessary.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of protective gear; keeps track of replacement inventory.
  • Facilitates the repair and replacement of emergency medical services and firefighting equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies for fire stations, including cleaning materials, furniture, and appliances; solicits quotes and executes purchases.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other tasks as required or directed by management.
  • In case of an emergency, all Camden County personnel are deemed essential and may be required to undertake alternative responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of standards and specifications for specialized equipment and gear.
  • Proficiency in using computers and job-related software applications.
  • Ability to operate modern office equipment.
  • Skill in identifying issues and formulating effective solutions.
  • Competence in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Fire Operations Chief assigns tasks based on general instructions. The supervisor reviews completed work for adherence to procedures, accuracy, and appropriateness of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include purchasing card procedures and departmental and county policies and procedures. These guidelines necessitate judgment, selection, and interpretation in their application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
  • The work consists of interrelated inventory management tasks. The need for multitasking adds to the complexity of the role.
  • The purpose of this position is to manage the inventory of equipment, supplies, and gear. Effective performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations.
CONTACTS
  • Contacts typically include co-workers, other county employees, suppliers, and members of the public.
  • Contacts are generally for the purpose of exchanging information, resolving issues, and providing services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The work is generally performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts both light and heavy objects.
  • The work is usually conducted in an office, stockroom, or warehouse setting.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge and competency typically associated with the completion of specialized training in the field, in addition to basic skills generally associated with a high school education.
  • Experience with Fire/EMS preferred.
  • Sufficient experience to grasp the fundamental principles relevant to the primary responsibilities of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having held a similar position for one to two years.
