We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for conducting ultrasound examinations and providing high-quality diagnostic images to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Ultrasound Examinations: Conduct scanning processes using ultrasound equipment, adjusting equipment to produce optimum images, and recording digital images as directed for radiologist interpretation.
- Patient Preparation: Review patient history and other supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
- Communication: Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and understanding of the exam.
- Equipment Maintenance: Select appropriate transducers depending on the area of interest and depth of field, and position patients for optimal results as required per exam.
- Image Quality Control: QC images and ensure that images are transferred to PACS and available for radiologist interpretation.
- Reporting: Assemble all necessary information and diagnostic images for radiologist-exam completed in the Epic, NOTES, report impression as applicable.
- Collaboration: Assist physicians in procedures such as interventional procedures, etc., and maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times.
- Education: Successful completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) program, or meets the education pre-requisites as outlined by the ARDMS.
- Certifications: RDMS-registered diagnostic medical sonographer (must have AB).
- Skills: Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, ultrasound physics, and universal precautions.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective interpersonal and communications skills, attention to detail, and ability to provide compassionate care to patients.
