About the Role

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging Services: Review and evaluate requisitions for diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
  • Patient Identification: Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
  • Equipment Selection: Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  • Patient Care: Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patients' specific needs.
  • Communication: Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.
  • Quality Control: Follows Departmental QC/Data Integrity Workflow.
  • Supportive Environment: Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
  • Operations: Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
  • Meetings and Documentation: Participates in departmental and hospital meetings. Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Complies with ETU. Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Professional Development: Practices the 6 core values of the Hospital; excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability. Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
  • Licensure and Certification: Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
  • Quality Results: Performing radiology procedures in a busy pediatric Radiology department. Assuring quality results and communicating the relevance of the results to other health care professionals.
Requirements
  • Education: An Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Skills: The analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and indepth, experiencedbased knowledge.
  • Certifications: MA Radiographer license and ARRT certification is required.
  • Communication: The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
