Assistant Coach for Varsity Boys Cross Country

Montgomery County Public Schools is currently seeking applications for the role of Assistant Coach for the Varsity Boys Cross Country team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Athletic Director and/or Principal, the selected coach will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive athletic program that emphasizes fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while ensuring the highest safety standards for all participants. The coach will also prioritize academic excellence by closely monitoring the academic progress of team members to confirm compliance with eligibility criteria.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Completion of the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) course and the associated test titled "Basic Virginia High School League Course" prior to commencing coaching responsibilities (course fee applicable). Note: Courses completed prior to 2009 are not valid.
  • Completion of the NFHS Concussion in Sports course before starting coaching duties (no fee required).
  • Strong communication skills with parents, students, and school officials.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Dependability and punctuality are essential.
  • Regular and consistent on-site attendance is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior coaching experience or participation in the sport at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Current CPR certification.

Employment Classification: Non-Exempt
