Principal Machine Learning Engineer

At Atlassian, we're seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Engineer to drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to build AI functionalities into our products and services.
Responsibilities:- Design and develop sophisticated machine learning models and architectures
- Conduct rigorous experimentation and model evaluations to ensure high-quality results
- Provide guidance and mentorship to emerging ML engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into our products
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or relevant work experience)
- 5+ years of industry experience in data science, with expertise in Python or Java and familiarity with SQL, Spark, and cloud data environments
- Experience building and scaling machine learning models in business applications using large datasets
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to explain complex data science concepts to diverse audiences
- Agile development mindset and ability to prioritize business practicality and output quality
