About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer II to join our team at Amazon, responsible for transforming Amazon Search using Large Language Models (LLMs). As a key member of our team, you will design and develop online ML systems and automated offline training pipelines, optimize latency and throughput of production models, and implement large-scale data processing for model pre-training and fine-tuning.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Develop Online ML Systems: Design and implement online ML systems that can handle large volumes of data and provide accurate results.
  2. Optimize Model Performance: Optimize the performance of production models to ensure they meet the required latency and throughput standards.
  3. Implement Large-Scale Data Processing: Implement large-scale data processing for model pre-training and fine-tuning, ensuring that the models are trained on diverse and representative data.
  4. Scale Inference: Scale inference to serve Amazon customers with tight SLAs, ensuring that the models can handle large volumes of requests.
  5. Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Scientists: Work closely with principal engineers and scientists to build systems that will stand the test of time, ensuring that the models are robust and scalable.
  6. Conduct A/B Tests: Conduct A/B tests to measure the customer impact of new models, ensuring that the models are providing value to customers.
About the Team

We are a collaborative team of machine learning engineers and scientists, responsible for Amazon Search quality worldwide. We are committed to delivering high-quality search results to our customers, and we are looking for talented individuals who share our passion for machine learning and search quality.

Requirements
  1. Professional Experience: 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience, with a focus on machine learning and data processing.
  2. Design and Architecture Experience: 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience, with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  3. Programming Experience: Experience programming with at least one software programming language, with a focus on machine learning and data processing.
  4. Machine Learning Experience: Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing.
