POSITION OVERVIEW:

Multi-Purpose Clerk

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to various departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial. This role is crucial in driving sales within the assigned department, addressing customer inquiries, fulfilling product requests, and managing special orders accurately.

The Clerk adheres to safe food handling practices, ensuring a clean and organized workspace that is free from hazards. Responsibilities also include receiving, inspecting, and logging products to verify shipment accuracy and quality, as well as stocking, rotating, and merchandising items to maintain freshness and visual appeal.

Key Responsibilities:

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be tasked with duties in any of the following areas:

  • Center Store/Front End: Operate the checkstand in accordance with company policies, memorize PLU codes, and stay updated on new products; manage ordering, receiving, unloading, stocking, and rotating products across all center store operations; merchandise items and perform Point-Of-Sale (POS) and inventory tasks.
  • Produce: Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy and quality; prepare produce by trimming, washing, and wrapping according to company standards; maintain freshness and appeal through proper stocking and rotation; ensure cleanliness in all areas of the department.
  • Meat/Seafood: Handle product receipt, inspection, and logging; package and label items for display; provide exceptional customer service at the seafood counter and manage special orders; maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the department.
  • Bakery/Deli: Manage product receipt, inspection, and logging; prepare and package items for display; maintain product freshness through effective stocking and rotation; take special orders for cakes and party trays while ensuring cleanliness in the department.
  • Janitorial: Uphold cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store; perform sweeping and mopping in various areas; maintain restrooms and common spaces; manage waste disposal and keep the exterior of the store tidy.

General Duties:
  • Maintain cleanliness in all assigned areas.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts and balers, if certified.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with urgency and self-motivation.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and adaptable in the workplace.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

Experience: At least six months in a related role.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and physical activity; ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
