Job Summary

The Category Manager plays a crucial role in driving growth in our fountain, frozen beverage, coffee, and baked goods programs across 200+ stores. This individual will be responsible for selecting vendors, items, and services to generate sales and drive financial growth. They will work with leading CPG manufacturers across the US, managing the implementation, execution, maintenance, and measurement of all elements within the category.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management
    • Manage all category expenditures and budgeted targets, monitoring variances and communicating performance and trends to management.
    • Create action plans for improvement or continuation of positive performance and results.
  • Market Analysis
    • Monitor the industry and competitive landscape, analyzing internal data such as sales and pricing.
    • Identify patterns and market trends to refine product strategies.
  • Category Performance
    • Manage and be accountable for the financial performance of the category.
    • Analyze trends and re-evaluate pricing strategy or cost-of-goods structure as necessary.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Develop and maintain key business relationships and communication with Category Management, Operations, Marketing, Accounting, Business Analysis, and outside vendors or suppliers.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to effectively manage existing and implement new products, programs, and category initiatives.
  • Vendor Management
    • Manage key vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, rebate processing, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Market Segmentation
    • Serve market segments and specific product needs by responding to consumer requests and trends.
  • Program Development
    • Work with field management to grow the category through effective programs that enhance brand image.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects
    • Represent the category in various cross-functional meetings and manage ad-hoc special projects for the category as necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Stay up to date with all legislation, regulation changes, and requirements that may affect a product or service in our geographies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred.
    • 2-5 years' experience in foodservice, merchandising, category management, sales, and/or vendor management preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Effective project management and decision-making skills.
    • Experience managing organization change to deliver planned results to all stakeholders preferred.
    • Strong accounting skills and ability to interpret complex financial data preferred.
Working Environment and Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel

Must be able to travel up to 25%.
