Job Summary

The Department of Public Health is seeking a skilled and experienced Healthcare Facilities Evaluator Nurse to conduct inspections, investigations, surveys, and evaluations of health facilities for conformity with licensing and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth surveys of healthcare facilities to determine compliance with state licensing and federal certification requirements.
  • Document interviews of relevant patient information, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Makes a determination of healthcare facilities' compliance with state and federal laws and regulations based on survey findings and observations.
  • Prepare written comprehensive deficiencies when deemed appropriate.
  • Develop and present written and verbal testimony to support civil monetary penalties at various legal proceedings.
  • Respond to legal actions as an expert witness on matters relating to patient care and the healthcare delivery system.
  • Attend meetings and participate in local programs to improve uniform compliance in licensed health care facilities.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends in the healthcare delivery system and industries through training sessions.
  • Advise and assist healthcare facility administrators in matters relating to state requirements for inspections, licensing, construction, and operation of healthcare facilities.
Requirements

Applicants must possess a valid Registered Nursing (RN) license as required by the Minimum Qualifications of the HFEN classification. Lower-level licensure, such as that of a Vocational Nurse (LVN), is non-qualifying for this classification.

Extensive travel will be required for this position.
