About the Position

We're seeking a seasoned Mechanical Construction Estimating Manager to join our dynamic team at Power Design. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for leading a team of estimators in developing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating Process Management: Oversee the construction estimating process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of estimates that meet company objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance, direction, and training to assigned estimating team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Bid Document Analysis: Analyze bid documents, align schedules, and manage the estimating team's process to ensure successful project execution.
  • Project Evaluation: Evaluate new project documents to conceptually understand the project scope, including building type, systems, key scope elements, and major factors for awards.
  • Bid Solicitation: Source, contact, and solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors, distributing support documents as needed.
  • Interim Design Estimating: Estimate interim designs to track and confirm pricing.
  • Research and Pricing: Conduct research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricing.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with internal stakeholders to define project scope, address deficiencies, and build relationships.
  • Estimating Package Preparation: Prepare and present completed estimating packages to company executives and senior management.
  • Project Transfer and Buyouts: Partner with our Operations Team to properly transfer awarded projects and perform buyouts when necessary.
Requirements
  • Seven or more years of relevant mechanical estimating experience with a concentration in multifamily, high-rise, and assisted-living projects.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and efficient.
  • Able to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software (AutoBid preferred).
