Job Overview:

As a Maintenance Technician with FirstService Residential, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our residential communities. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain a safe, attractive, and pleasing environment for residents, which is essential for delivering exceptional service to the community.

Under the supervision of our experienced team, you will perform routine maintenance tasks in common areas, while fostering positive relationships with residents. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in ensuring that our communities remain well-maintained and welcoming.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean restrooms according to a prescribed schedule and document the work in the appropriate log.
  • Perform minor and major repairs of common area buildings and equipment as needed, documenting the work for follow-up through our work order system.
  • Install light bulbs and conduct minor repairs on ground-level lighting or lighting that can be reached with a 6-foot ladder.
  • Paint exterior and interior walls, structures, and fencing as needed, documenting the work through our work order process.
  • Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures, including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, and walls.
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets as scheduled.
  • Maintain documentation in an appropriate log.
  • Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Empty and sanitize waste receptacles; pick up papers and other debris per schedule.
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment and set up rooms for meetings as needed.
  • Maintain common areas, including but not limited to sweeping decks, power washing walkways, removing cobwebs, cleaning deck furniture, emptying and cleaning ashtrays, removing fallen yard debris, picking up garbage, and disposing of garbage at the appropriate disposal site.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, floor buffers, vacuums, carpet cleaners, power washers, and other tools used in building and ground maintenance.
Requirements:
  • One year of experience in janitorial or custodial work.
  • Prior work experience as a maintenance technician is also considered.
  • An ability to follow oral and written directions, keep accurate records, fill out logs and journals, and perform administrative operational functions.
  • Basic principles of plumbing, wood finishing, painting, electricity, and carpentry.
