The primary role of the Audiologist is to operate as an autonomous expert and service provider who collaborates with otolaryngology specialists, assesses patients referred from various sources, and delivers hearing aid services. This position also involves evaluating the type and severity of hearing loss and executing rehabilitation and habilitation services. Furthermore, the Audiologist will devise marketing strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the growth of the hearing aid practice. This position reports directly to the Medical Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive hearing assessments and evaluate patients to gather data on the type and extent of hearing impairment for both clinical support and hearing devices.
- Diagnose hearing and balance disorders to establish treatment plans.
- Maintain detailed patient records throughout all phases, including initial assessments and ongoing treatment.
- Fit, dispense, and repair assistive listening devices, including hearing aids.
- Design and implement treatment programs for patients experiencing hearing or balance issues, consulting with relevant healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Provide counseling and education to patients and their families on techniques to enhance hearing and communication related to hearing loss.
- Monitor patient progress and conduct ongoing evaluations of hearing capabilities.
- Teach patients effective communication strategies to optimize receptive communication.
- Recommend assistive devices tailored to patients' specific needs or types of impairments.
- Refer patients to additional medical or educational resources when necessary.
- Educate and mentor audiology students and healthcare staff.
- Develop and oversee hearing screening initiatives.
- Examine and clean patients' ear canals.
- Maintain awareness of operational costs and fulfill responsibilities to manage expenses.
- Document daily activities in Sycle.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Au.D. or Master's Degree in Audiology.
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience; recent graduates will be considered.
- Proficient in complex problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making.
- Strong organizational and time management skills are critical for prioritizing daily tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and critical-thinking abilities.
- A collaborative team player who is open to constructive feedback and adheres to workplace regulations.
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must hold a valid Audiologist license in good standing in Indiana. All employees are required to provide proof of vaccination or exemption.
Current licensure from the Indiana Department of Professional Regulation is required, along with a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master's prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for the purpose of supervising students.
