Job Title: Adjunct Instructor of Public Choice

Position Summary:

The Adjunct Instructor of Public Choice will work in the School of Business at Campbell University, instructing economics and related curriculum. This course emphasizes analysis of the methods and consequences of arriving at collective decisions through political mechanisms. Applies economic theory and methodology to the study of nonmarket decision making. Topics include free-rider problems, voting, majority choice, demand revelation, and political bargaining. Teaching experience, commitment to excellence, innovation in undergraduate teaching, and an appreciation for the broad intellectual community of an excellent Business School is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement curriculum, inclusive of learning objectives, that align with the School of Business's academic standards.
  • Course Materials Management: Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook provided by the department chair.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Administer tests, assignments, and other exercises that permit measurement of knowledge, abilities, and/or performance relative to the course learning objectives.
  • Grading and Record Keeping: Post grades in Blackboard as well as Campbell's Self Service portal, and maintain accurate and timely student record keeping.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Maintain timely communications with students and staff, interact with students in a positive manner, listen effectively, and field questions pertaining to subject matter.
  • Participation and Performance Assessment: Assess participation and performance of students, and administer exams according to university guidelines.
  • Professional Development: Participate in departmental, faculty, and staff meetings as requested, and exercise independent judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Professional Appearance and Demeanor: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, and uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and Information Security including FERPA, and other state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
  • Education: MBA in economics, business, or a related field, with a terminal degree (PhD) preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Relevant professional work experience and college or university level teaching experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels, strong computer skills, and the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
