Position: Respiratory Care Assistant

Duke Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Care Assistant. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic respiratory therapy student who has successfully completed the initial year of an accredited respiratory program. We invite you to contribute to our mission of Advancing Health Together.

Role Overview
  • Confirm physician directives to ensure they are accurate and suitable.
  • Educate patients, their families, and fellow healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct diagnostic cardiopulmonary assessments and identify critical situations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Track patient responses to therapies and accurately document relevant information.
  • Ensure proper setup and safety of medical equipment for patient treatment.
  • Engage in quality enhancement initiatives and uphold necessary certifications.
Qualifications

Education: Currently enrolled in a two-year respiratory care program, having completed the first semester.

Experience: Clinical experience through a respiratory care program.

Licensure and Certification: Registration with the Board for Respiratory Care procedures.

Skills and Competencies: Ability to make informed clinical decisions and effectively interact with patients across all age groups.

This role involves collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, walking, climbing, and bending.
