Self-Checkout Assistance
- Demonstrates proficiency in monitoring and assisting customers at multiple self-service checkout stations simultaneously.
- Engages with customers proactively to suggest products and services effectively.
- Actively greets, assists, and interacts with several customers across various registers concurrently.
- Navigates the checkout area by standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving items to ensure the accurate completion of transactions.
- Expresses gratitude to customers for their patronage and encourages them to return.
- Proactively approaches and greets customers to identify and address their needs during checkout.
- Genuinely thanks each customer for their business and invites them back.
- Maintains and enhances knowledge of the company's offerings and services.
- Recommends suitable products, credit options, and protection plans related to the company's merchandise during checkout.
- Utilizes a cash register, self-service checkout systems, or mobile checkout devices to process sales, returns, and refunds in accordance with company policies.
- Removes security tags, verifies product details, and packages items for customers.
- Responds to security alerts.
- Answers incoming calls and directs inquiries or takes messages as necessary.
- Requests additional register support to manage high customer traffic.
- Ensures merchandise is scanned accurately.
- Prepares the checkout area throughout the day by confirming the functionality of registers and stocking necessary supplies.
- Organizes and maintains displays, shelves, and merchandising areas around the checkout zone.
- Inspects returned items for damage and places them in designated areas.
- Assists with the customer experience for in-store pickups by selecting and staging merchandise.
- Accurately enters and submits customer orders, prints order tickets, verifies receipts, processes online orders, and signs off on loading tickets.
- Identifies common signs of theft, shoplifting, and other security concerns, promptly reporting them to management or security personnel.
- Adheres to cleanliness and organization standards to maintain a tidy store environment.
- Ensures a safe and secure workplace, which may involve conducting daily safety checks, identifying hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing entry points.
- Complies with all safety protocols relevant to job responsibilities, including equipment safety measures.
- Operates store equipment as required based on specific roles and departments.
- Associates in the administrative office create, manage, and update various reports.
- Associates may process customer payments and applications, send invoices, and resolve credit disputes.
- Associates may work in different checkout areas of the store.
- In addition to the above responsibilities, this individual may be assigned other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for data entry and information retrieval.
- Less than 1 year of experience standing and moving throughout checkout areas for extended periods in a retail environment.
- Less than 1 year of experience actively monitoring customer transactions in a fast-paced self-checkout area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Less than 1 year of experience in a fast-paced self-checkout environment.
