About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior UI/UX Designer to join our team at Applied Research Associates (ARA). As a UI/UX Designer, you will play a critical role in creating user-centered design solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • User Research: Conduct research to gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and developers.
  • Design Concepts: Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.
  • Visual Design: Design graphic user interface elements, such as menus, tabs, and widgets.
  • Prototyping: Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like.
  • Design Development: Create original graphic designs, including images, sketches, and tables.
  • Design Review: Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • UX Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot UX problems.
  • Layout Adjustments: Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
  • Style Guidelines: Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and images.
Requirements
  • Relocation: Willingness to relocate to a new location.
  • Citizenship: US citizen with the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years' experience or high school diploma with 6-8 years' experience.
  • Portfolio: Portfolio of design projects showcasing your expertise in desktop and mobile applications.
  • Design Skills: Knowledge of wireframe tools and design software.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Organization: Demonstrated high degree of organization and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Design Education: Bachelor's degree in design or a related field.
  • Design Certification: UI/UX design certification.
