Position Summary: This role reports directly to the Electrical Superintendent, receiving guidance and instructions to ensure the effective operation of the assigned departmental functions.
Supervision Structure: Work is conducted under the general oversight of the Electrical Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute tasks safely, promptly, and efficiently as directed by the Electrical Superintendent.
- Utilize hot line tools with proficiency.
- Perform service connections as required.
- Assist in the installation of transformers and related equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to established safety protocols, demonstrating proper tool usage.
- Support in responding to service calls.
- Act promptly in emergency situations as instructed.
- Contribute to the development of improved operational methods while adhering to city policies.
- Participate in stand-by duty during weekends and holidays.
- Assist in the construction, repair, and maintenance of both overhead and underground electrical distribution networks.

Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of safe practices in servicing electrical systems.
- Familiarity with departmental operations and safe equipment usage.
- Awareness of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relevant to operating light and heavy motorized equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
- Capability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- Experience in routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships.
- Competence in communicating effectively with the public.
- Ability to comprehend and act on written and verbal directives.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience in hot line work. A valid Texas Class C Driver's License is necessary, with the ability to obtain a CDL.
Any relevant work experience that demonstrates proficiency in the required knowledge and skills may be considered as a substitute for educational and experience requirements on a case-by-case basis.
