Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is integral to the financial operations of WellLife Network, reporting directly to the Controller. The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with the Director of Property Management, accounting personnel, and operational teams to oversee the financial management of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit properties. Responsibilities include preparing comprehensive account analyses, maintaining fixed asset and debt schedules, reconciling account transactions, and managing month-end and year-end closing processes. Additionally, this position entails preparing necessary quarterly and annual reports to ensure compliance with LIHTC projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily accounting operations and assist with pertinent reporting.
  • Generate journal entries and accruals as required.
  • Oversee general ledgers for multiple properties.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
  • Maintain the fixed asset schedule and document annual depreciation.
  • Administer debt schedules efficiently.
  • Reconcile and prepare payroll and insurance expense invoices related to LIHTC entities.
  • Manage the chart of accounts for LIHTC entities.
  • Ensure intercompany reconciliations are performed accurately.
  • Support the preparation of annual tax returns.
  • Review financial statements for precision and analyze month-end closing reports.
  • Create financial reports, including annual budgets, variance reports, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, analysis workpapers, and quarterly financial reports for investors.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures and ensure all deliverables are tracked.
  • Collaborate with the Controller, Senior Controller, and CFO on year-end audit schedules and liaise with auditors regarding audit-related matters.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required, along with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to effectively research, compile, and present data both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, is essential. Familiarity with Appfolio or similar property management accounting systems is preferred. The ability to work independently while being part of a team is crucial, along with excellent computer and organizational skills. Knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit regulations is mandatory.

Candidates must obtain certification in low-income housing tax credits within six months of hiring and possess knowledge of HUD requirements.

To excel in this position, individuals must be capable of performing each essential duty at an advanced level. A comprehensive understanding of computers and various software applications, combined with relevant practical business experience, is necessary for success in this role.
