About the Post Acute Unit

The Post Acute Unit at The University of Vermont Health Network's Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing is dedicated to providing supportive, goal-directed care following surgery and/or hospitalization. Our specially-designed treatment programs are designed to help patients reach their highest possible level of independence.

We work with patients who have experienced strokes, neurological conditions, orthopedic care, respiratory conditions, and cardiac and post-trauma situations. Our team of skilled nursing staff provides the necessary extension of therapies when therapy staff are not present to provide direct service.

Routine Therapy services are provided Monday through Friday, and we also have the capability of providing therapy six days a week if that is what is required to maximize positive results.

Job Summary

The Unit RN performs services requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill for carrying out the nursing regimen in support of medical care, based upon the principles of the biological, physiological, behavioral, and social sciences.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.

Experience

  • Gerontological nursing and knowledge of supervision techniques preferred.
  • Able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Demonstrate competence as a nursing practitioner.
  • BLS certification
