Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician I operates under the direct oversight of licensed pharmacists, delivering essential pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy division. This role involves a significant level of assistance in the distribution, dispensing, and preparation of non-sterile medications, ensuring compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support medication distribution systems and channels, including automated dispensing units, emergency carts, trays, and kits.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and students.
  • Perform data entry for prescriptions in the pharmacy system as necessary.
  • Process medication charges and credits when applicable.
  • Prepare, fill, receive, deliver, stock, and replenish medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and storage areas. Repackage bulk medications as needed.
  • Prepare non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous substances, and cross-train in more advanced functions when appropriate.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned to support pharmacy operations within the technician's scope of practice.
  • Assist with customer service and patient inquiries, including answering phones, managing work queues, and compiling medication histories.

Additional Information:

This position requires critical thinking abilities, effective communication skills, sound judgment, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team with minimal supervision. The ability to remain composed in a high-pressure environment and meet the physical demands of the role is essential.
